Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment in London Fractional C02 in Queen’s Park, London

What is Fractional CO2?

As we go through life, many of us develop scars, marks and skin lesions, the appearance of which can be lessened with Fractional CO2 laser, a safe, non-surgical skin resurfacing treatment. Although slightly similar to other treatments including chemical peels and microdermabrasion, the Fractional CO2 laser is much stronger. Vaporising the deep outer layers of skin reveals fresh, untouched skin.

Many of our patients choose this treatment to help lessen the appearance of lines and wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, sun damage and pigmentation. Fractional Co2 laser treatment in London is often turned to when other methods haven’t worked.

How does it work?

The Fractional CO2 laser uses light beams to remove the outer layers of damaged skin. The laser reaches deep into the skin and helps stimulate collagen production, supporting the skin’s natural healing process. What is collagen? Collagen is a protein that the body naturally produces. In fact, it plays a huge role in several bodily structures including the skin, muscles, tendons and even bones. Collagen is often used to heal wounds, such as the marks and pigmentations that you may want to remove from your skin.

At our clinic in Queen’s Park, London, we use the SecretPRO device which can combine Radio Frequency (RF) Microneedling and Fractional CO2 in one treatment, as well as doing both treatments separately.

RF Microneedling also helps to boost collagen levels; it reduces fine lines and wrinkles, diminishes the look of pores and fades acne scars.

What is the CO2 laser procedure like?

thumbnail_IMG_2524

The Fractional CO2 laser is glided across the skin by one of our doctors. You can expect to feel a warm prickling sensation as the Fractional CO2 laser zaps the skin in short, sharp bursts. Post-treatment, your clinician will apply cooling gel to the area that’s just been treated, to help avoid any discomfort from the laser. The whole treatment takes no longer than 30 minutes. It can take far less time than this, however it does depend on the area being treated as well as the skin conditions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Is Fractional CO2 safe?

Fractional CO2 is simple and safe however those with darker skin tones should avoid having fractional CO2 laser as it can leave permanent pigmentation changes. Your clinician will go through your medical information prior to the treatment to ensure it’s safe for you to undergo Fractional CO2. Don’t worry, you’re in good hands. If we believe that this treatment isn’t suitable for you, we will work with you to find another suitable option. You will also be told of any preparation that’s needed beforehand; this includes avoiding products that might irritate the skin and avoiding sun exposure. If you have a holiday lined up, let us know and we can work on finding a suitable time for your treatment. It’s also best to avoid using retinoids in the run up to your Fractional CO2 laser treatment.

  • How long does it take to heal from Fractional CO2?

Healing from a Fractional CO2 laser can take 7-10 days and weeks. The outer layers of skin will shed and the new skin underneath may appear pink or red initially. Skin may be flakey and also a little bronze. However, don’t be alarmed by anyredness as this means that healing is taking place. After a few days, the redness should die down. At this time, it’s best to avoid wearing makeup. Typically, make up can be applied about a week after treatment, but we will guide you through the process.

Rest assured that all our patients are given clear aftercare instructions, which if followed correctly, will ensure the healing process is smooth and that the results are long lasting so you can enjoy your beautiful new skin.

  • How long will the results last?

You can expect to see results after just one treatment, however, depending on the severity of the skin condition, you may need one or two more sessions. We will however discuss this with you. Results can be immediate but skin can continue to improve over the following weeks and even months. These results can last for many years, providing that the skin is taken good care of; this means protecting skin when it’s exposed to sunlight, and following a good skin care regime.

Sometimes, skin conditions require maintenance treatments to ensure that the results stick, but again, we will go through this with you.

  • What can you expect from the procedure?

At our clinic in Queen’s Park, London, we want to ensure that you’re as comfortable as possible when undergoing Fractional CO2 laser.

Prior to the procedure, we will apply a topical anesthetic over the area to be treated. This numbs the area and lessens any uncomfortable sensations from the laser. As the laser is glided over the skin, the light beams zap the skin which can feel warm and prickly. You may in fact feel nothing at all.

After the treatment, which takes anywhere between 15 to 25 minutes, we’ll apply a cooling gel to the skin. It may feel as though you have sunburnt skin, but the gel we apply should help settle the skin and stop this from becoming painful.

  • Does Fractional CO2 treatment hurt?

Thanks to the anesthetic which we apply prior to starting the Fractional CO2 treatment, there is minimal pain. Typically, the most you’ll feel is a prickling sensation. After treatment, skin might feel hot and prickly, but the use of cooling gel and proper after care will usually relieve this.
